It was a carbon copy of the previous years Colours last weekend.
First up was the Dan Quinn. The Novice 8 led from the start and stormed to victory in flying form. Making it 4 in a row for DUBC in the Dan Quinn Shield. The 8 fine men showed great power and strength to start strong, and slowly stretch their lead up the course. Special praise to Cox Hannah Colgan who navigated the choppy waters excellently, making perfect use of the sheltered North station. We are extremely proud of our Novice panel, not just the 9 who took to the water but also the 9 who brought home the Goonan Cup along with the many others driving the competition in the squad. We look forward to see what this squad can bring and replicate the domination of the last year.
Dan Quinn Crew.
It was a different story in the Gannon Cup where a young DUBC 8 put it a tough fight unfortunately coming up short in the end. It was a hard race against an accomplished UCDBC crew and we look forward to racing them again this coming season. This is a young DUBC squad with several of the crew racing their first Gannon and we hope that as the season progresses the experience will grow leading to a quicker boat.
Gannon Cup Crew
We roll on.
